Saga Subsea awarded contract by Nexans Norway

August 2019, Saga Subsea with our subsea cable department, was awarded a contract by Nexans Norway. Saga Subsea have with this contract been given the site manager role for the work to be conducted in the Suldal area for the North Sea Link project (NSL).

North Sea Link (NSL) project is a new HVDC link (+/- 525kV, total 1 400MW transmission capacity) between Kvilldal in Rogaland, Norway and Blyth, north of Newcastle, England. When the cable is operative in 2021, it will be the world’s longest with it`s 720 km. The NSL project is a collaboration between National Grid (UK) and Statnett (Norway).

 

Most of the work for Nexans to be done in the Suldal area, will be conducted Q1-Q3 2020, where some planning and preparations will be commenced Q4 2019.

 Saga Subsea with the site manager role have been given the responsibility to lead and coordinate all the local work to be conducted in the Suldal area, on behalf of Nexans Norway. The work will consist of leading the overall work, follow up on local suppliers and see to that planning and commencement is according to applicable laws and regulations and according to QHSE requirements for the project. It is estimated that during the most busy periods, 100 persons will be involved in the execution of the project.
